Biology 101 - Starting from Day 1 students work interactively in small groups

A class of 230 becomes a little friendlier on the first day when students greet each other and begin working in small teams. This kind of interactive classroom forces everyone to be involved. The teamwork approach

is used throughout the semester to promote critical thinking. When students explain their ideas to others, they are
forced to reflect on how well they understand the concepts. They also gain experience in skills that are crucial for scientists: communicating and defending a point of view with peers.
Students greet their neighbors and get to work making observations and solving problems as a team.
